At a time when greenwashing is growing, the Conou Sustainability Report plays a decisive role.
It is fundamental that CONOU’s activities, inspired by the principles of environmental protection, the fight against climate change and technological innovation, find confirmation and correspondence in virtuous figures.
The Sustainability Report not only describes and analyses CONOU’s economic, social and environmental performance, but it also ensures fairness and transparency through clear compliance to GRI international standards.
The Report is focused on three main areas:
1. Governance and sustainability performance
2. Environmental impact
3. Economical and social impact
The Sustainability Report illustrates the economic, environmental, and social outcomes of the Consortium’s activities and the entire supply chain. The Consortium has prepared the 2023 Sustainability Report in accordance with GRI Standards. For the first time, this year’s report also complies with the new European regulatory standards developed by the European Financial Reporting Advisory Group (EFRAG), which will soon become mandatory for all companies.
CONOU’s efforts highlight the significant positive impact of its activities, demonstrating the effectiveness of the circular model in contrast to the linear model of producing lubricating bases from virgin raw materials.
The 2023 Sustainability Report also emphasizes how the CONOU System significantly contributes to economic value creation and job generation. The Consortium’s activities have yielded positive economic and social outcomes, with a total economic impact of 81.3 million euros, reflecting a strong increase of approximately 12 percent compared to 2022, and have employed 1,857 people.
For 40 years, the Consortium has been helping to reduce emissions of greenhouse gases and other pollutants as well as the use of valuable natural resources.
